Vincent Valentine X Reader: Chap.8 Explanations

"Weeell we didn't do anything TOO extreme." Cloud draws out, trying to figure out a way to break the news to everyone.
"Your definition of 'extreme' might be different from ours." You point out much to Cloud's dismay.
"Are you trying to torture me?"
"Maybe." Says Yuffie grinning evilly. Cloud gulps almost inaudibly, but your heightened senses pick up on it. You glare at Yuffie.
"We are interrogating him Yuffie not scaring the Mako out of the poor boy!"
"Is that possible?" Asks Reno. Everyone glares at him as usual.
"Continue Cloud." Says Vincent monotonously.
"Must I go into detail?" Stammers a poor cornered Cloud.
"You know on second thought I would rather not be scarred." Says Yuffie getting up and dragging Reno by the ear out the door with her. Both couples shift their eyes to the couple leaving and then back to each other. You cross your legs on top of the counter and lean forward telling Cloud that you had no intention of leaving.
"It was nothing dramatic..."
"Did Tifa lose something or what?" You asked getting right to the point knowing that the poor boy would be stammering all day otherwise.
"Ummm..."
"Tifa did you lose it or what!" You yelled losing your patience.
"No! But there's something else you need to see. It's why Cloud needed to carry me. It was so surprising I almost fainted!"
"Tifa are you feeling okay?"
"No, but that's not the point there is a diary, or possibly a journal up in the room that you need to see!"
"Why?"
"Trust me you'll figure it out when you read it." You jumped up from the counter-top striding up to the room. You threw open the door and grabbed a leather bound book from the bed. This must be it you thought. Opening the book you began to read.

The first experiment was a failure, Hojo is pacing the room like a cornered animal. Maybe now is a good time to tell him. It would hopefully make him feel better. I will tell him now.

He seems ecstatic, amazed that I thought of a way his plan could work. But the thing is we must use our fetus. If it works it could be the strongest child alive, but if it doesn't the child will surely die. Should I take this risk? Because if the child dies it will be my fault.

Vincent has cornered me on the topic of the fetus, he seems really distressed. I tell him that I must do it, it's in the name of science. I hate the way he looks at me, love and despair warring in his eyes. I don't love him like that, but I love him like family and if something were to happen to him I would never forgive myself.

We have worked for a while on the new experiments. The outcome is still unsure.

I feel sick. Hojo shot Vincent and is now experimenting on him. I hate him for that but I mustn't let it show if Vincent is to survive. I will experiment myself and see if there is anything that I can do to save him.

I finished, by finally putting Protomateria into his body he woke up, but he hates his new form and I am not sure how this will turn out.

The child was born we named him Sephiroth I barely got to hold him before Hojo took him away to test if the experiment had worked. I will never forgive myself for this I deserve the worst punishment possible.

There is a second child! I don't know how. They must've been twins. It is possible that the experiments altered the birth time. She is different somehow. I can feel it. Despite getting the same injections it seems that she got more of one property and Sephiroth of another. I will name her Mika. I must get her away from here if Hojo realizes that there is a second child he will want both, and I cannot let that happen. I will send her away with a letter to explain everything, there is no doubt in my mind that she will change her name once she reads it but for now she is Mika. After this I am running away. That girl will play a key role in the survival of this planet, her brother as well. I wish for both of them to grow up as wonderful people. But with Sephiroth in Hojo's clutches that will be difficult. I have told no one about Mika, I pray to the ancients that Hojo will never find out.

The book drops to the floor with a thud, Vincent picks it up scans it quickly than envelops you in a warm hug. Tifa and Cloud watch from the doorway, having read the book earlier they already know what it says but it still is surprising. Quietly they close the door and leave. You sob into Vincent's shoulder his metal hand runs through your hair comfortingly while the other one holds you close. "She actually did all that for me! For you too." You manage to choke out.
"I know she made mistakes but she tried to fix them." He whispered to you. You both cling to each other for a while until you fall asleep. That night you have no nightmares.
